According to the results of the current American Furniture Manufacturers Association's parents' poll, more than half of the youth furniture bought for children in the last year was purchased with no input from the kids. As indicated by parental feedback, 52% of the children played a "passive" role in choosing their bedroom furniture. For clarification, 22% played a "helpful" role and 13% played an "active" role, ultimately having the final decision. (12% were for newborns.)
In addition to investigating how kids help create their personal space, AFMA learned about who is buying children's furniture and what they are picking off furniture store floors. In the following links, you will find the research results, as well as advice from industry experts on how to smartly involve children in deciding what furniture will make them happy when parents say, "Go to your room."
